I sent an e-mail to Cardiff county council requesting any properties that were for lease and available for us to use for a month in June as a venue for our show.  These were the results from Cardiff county council.

These properties were unfortunately all very expensive and we were hoping that we would be able to get a place for free or a substantially lower price. The concept of using an empty shop was that we would be advertising the empty space as well as using up an empty shop. The council was also keen on this idea as a way to help with the current economic climate and draw shoppers in rather than deterring them with empty shops. However the stumbling block is that by using an empty space for a few weeks or a month, the letter will still be advertising the property as an empty place. Therefore at any time if we got an empty shop we could be ousted at short notice. I decided to look into other options as back up so I contacted Rhian Jones from the Council.
